You know why I like protein shakes?
I like not having to eat.
Eating is a hassle.
It's nice to keep my stomach quiet without firing up the furnace
and beginning the cycle of digestion that is so uncomfortable for me.
Sipping a protein shake keeps the hunger away,
is nourishing (because I use raw milk and Miracle Whey....I don't trust other products right now)
is easy
and postpones the exhausting job of eating actual food.
At least protein shakes work for the first half of the day.
After sunset I get ravenous.
That's when the carb cravings hit.
That's when I am grateful for having some nice grass fed meat dishes prepared ahead of time to keep me from rampaging around looking for anything starchy.
In my fridge right now I have venison with vegetables in mushroom tomato sauce
and beef with vegetables with onion.
Everything I eat makes me tired.
It's like I have to schedule a nap after every meal.
It's horrible.
What did I do to my poor body?
Between developing food sensitivities,
adrenal fatigue
and multiple weight loss surgeries
I really screwed up my digestive tract.
Now it's demanding all my blood flow and energy every time it give it something to digest.
Even when I'm eating the best of protein and produce I may take one bite too many and suffer dumping syndrome.
Ah, how nature seeks and finds its balance, eh?
If only I would stop interfering.
*Lisa's Video Pick of the Day*
This was really hard for me to watch as I live through this a few times a week.
There is a fine line on how much you can eat before dumping syndrome happens. Dumping is not an immediate reaction. It takes about 10-15 minutes to begin. Often when you think you are 'safe' and eat another bite, you find out you went too far. There is a learning curve. Plus, sometimes things make you dump one day that were fine another day. This brave soul filmed herself in the middle of a dumping episode.
Thank you for your courage, Cheri. I'm praying for you.

Finally getting in da groove, 3 wks into my big self-improvement kick...
& I have to agree, making the protein shakes IS easier than figuring out what I can eat [safely].
A few minor bumps in the road, but I forgave-myself-in-advance since I knew I would be far from perfect!
[Congrats on your lil' slice of fame in the book & upcoming video, Lisa - you just keep on dreamin' big!]
