its disturbing to see the lengths people will go to to hurt others. i am continuously struck but the SELF RIGHTEOUSNESS of people when it comes to weight and health. the last time we saw this sort of fitness and health obsession was Nazi freaking Germany people. I'm so sorry someone did this to you. I mean what else to they expect you to do...you did every single diet thing your doctor told you to...and it ruined your digestive tract. /headdesk to them and /hugs to you. hang in there and you inspire me.
Wow. Someone did that? I find that unbelievably...weird. Seriously, that person has lost some perspective.
I mean, okay, if your practitioner was about to sell you to some potentate as a slave, definitely alert someone. But...huh, they don't like your new healing foods eating plan? What?
I'm stunned, frankly.
Look, I may not agree with some diets out there (things with drugs, injections, etc) and I may think some people go to surgery way way prematurely and without proper treatment of depression and other issues which may rank more important in their health issues...but unless I thought they were in danger of maiming, death, or slavery or rape or something dreadful, who am I to make calls and interfere? Not my body, not my life.
I think you have a right to know the identity of the person who contacted your doctor or health care advisor. I would request that information. If that happened to me, I would feel creepy--the boundary issue, you know. I was unable to post a very long comment on here, but it right through when I cut it shorter. (I've no doubt that's a good thing.) Also, obviously, folks discovered blogger was down yesterday, but that still doesn't justify...
Well. I better just submit this before it is too long. :)
Sorry that happened. I would try to remember that the person probably meant well, even though they went about the whole thing in an inappropriate way. They might have identified a bit too strongly with you, for instance.
Hey, thanks for all the supportive comments! I did email the person who did this and told her to never do that again. My practitioner was very cool about it. Much cooler than I was. I think people (me included) have egos that flare up and cannot bear to be contradicted.
Something I am doing made her so uncomfortable she had to lash out to defend her beliefs lest she lose her footing on whatever truth she stands on.
Creepy, though. Totally uncalled for. Hopefully will never happen again.
Lisa, be sure of yourself. You're intelligent, you're successful in life career-wise, you're a beautiful looking woman, you're highly educated! And also, your blog is one of the best on the web! That you are seeking good health is a good thing - I wish more people would do that. You are doing what you feel is best for you at this moment. If someone disagrees, too bad. Everyone has to do what they feel is best for them (which may be different for each of us!). Bottom line, anyway, as for the person who complained, it's none of their freaking business! As you said they probably meant well. But then you know the road to h-- is paved with ... You are one of the people I really admire. I know I'm not alone in this! *hugs*
Unfortunately, I'm not as stunned. I worked in the health field and have seen some really shitty behavior and peoples inability to see that their behavior borders on illegal, not simply unethical. How dare they. How manipulative, controlling, under handed, cowardly, stalkerish, creepy and just plain disgusting.
The wls world is, like all other areas of human endeavor, prone to jealousy, competitiveness, underhanded nastiness, and more conniving acts than on most soap operas. I'm sorry that you AND your doctor were subjected to such a mentally disordered behavior.
Lisa, I still continue to read your blog, while we have differences in opinion, when I agree with you I really agree. I shared my concerns initially with you, but ultimately it's your body and your business. I wish you continued success health and blog wise. The other Lisa...

Well...I'd be pissed.

Take care. Trust yourself.
This is shocking and a bit scary too. Privacy and the Internet often don't go together.
Be well and take care of yourself as you see fit. It's your body and no one elses!

Can't believe somebody did that!! Well, actually I can.
People seem to think that others' health is their business. The media doesn't help.
So sorry that happened to you.

Wow. Just...wow! Is there no level to which people won't stoop? That is so messed up!
