Yep. I'm all for HAES. And for figuring out--through research and trial and error, if necessary-- which specific behaviors help me feel the best I can, improve energy use at a cellular level, and create better balance in such diverse areas as sleep and mood. Sometimes for me that has meant making changes in diet. Sometimes those changes have resulted in significantly reduced amounts of body fat...and much improved blood glucose numbers, blood pressure, and so forth. I celebrate those changes, not because fatness is bad but because being sick felt like crap. Not all fatness equals sickness, and conflating the two only confuses the issues. But, for me, the two went hand in hand.

Like you say: "Fat is not the demon"...whether the fat is on a human body or in the food we eat.
