"We think thin people with big appetites are magical, like little french-fry-eating unicorns."

I think I swooned at this line...after I finished laughing! Even before I stumbled across the idea of FA I still would have moments (in between all of my self-loathing) where I'd ponder how it was that people could not possibly conceive that if there were THIN people who could eat non-stop and not gain weight; that there were ALSO going to be FAT people who could eat next to nothing and never lose weight. I guess my foray into FA was laid in place long before I ever found the fat-o-sphere!!

Wow is this a great blog!!! I wish it could be published in the NY Times because that is so true - overeating is "cute" if a person is not overweight but if a person is overweight, it is assumed that they overeat which is often not the case --- I say "often" because maybe there are some fat people who overeat but I sure as heck don't know any - the ones in my life including me do NOT overeat - I easily gain weight on anything over 1700 calories a day! :( (and it should be noted that most gastric bypass patients I know gain weight if they eat anything over 1000 calories a day - another "dirty little secret" that folks are never told in WLS seminars. ** sigh **) But when I've told folks that, no one believes me and no one sees the incongruity between overeating being "OK" if a person is slim but a "sin" if the person is fat. That's why I wish this article could appear in the NY Times - the world needs to be made aware of this, Lisa! I love love love your blog!!!
